Reflection 117 from Readers View Literary Award Winning Book, Reflective Empowerment

Take a stand for yourself

Are you comfortable with your present situation? If you are, perhaps you are not extending yourself beyond your immediate grasp. You are only doing what you know you can comfortably achieve. You are not stepping out of your crease for fear that you will fail. But why waste your talent? Be a man or woman of destiny. Let not your tombstone read, “Here lies John Doe (substitute your name) who is dead, but whose potential was not used up.”

To reach your full potential, you have to take a stand for yourself. You have to stand up for what you want out of life. Discover your purpose, exercise your potential, and claim your destiny. Release your internal Tiger—be strong, be bold, be courageous, be cunning, be brave, be alert, be honest, and be compassionate.

If you believe in yourself, and for what you stand, you will soar to a higher level of achievement. Stand up for what you believe in, or be doomed to fall for anything.

The author has provided an excellent year-long program to help readers make their life like they want it. Often we get down in a rut and can’t get out. Or we say “I’ll do it tomorrow.” But now is the time to start working on making changes. One of the things the author said is that in order to do this one must be passionate about doing it. If you go into this program halfway, you will give up.Each chapter has reflections for every week and then on days six and seven there is an exercise to do. This incorporates what you have learned and what you want to change. The topics range from really looking at yourself, to include your inner self to facing challenges of daily life. It is easy to read, well written and thought provoking. His recommendation is to read the book all the way through and then go back and work on each week. “Reflective Empowerment: Empower Yourself” is an excellent resource not only for me, for some of my college students who seem to be lost. I read this through and now will go back and work the program.

Your Mind Governs Your Results

If your mind tells you can, then you can!

When you think of doing something, your belief of whether you can do it isimportant. When you believe you can do something, half the battle is won. The mind is a powerful instrument. The mind sets the limits to what you can do. It overrides your potential. If in fact you can do something, but your mind says to you that you cannot do it, then the reality is you will not be able to do it.

Each person has a special ability to look at a situation, and to know whether it is possible to deal with that situation. The complicating factor is that you may lack self-confidence with respect to that particular matter. You have to believe in yourself. You have to reach deep within your soul, and feel that you can do the job at hand. Then, through your thoughts and actions create the world that you want.

Belief governs every situation in your life. One aspect is the inner feeling that you can accomplish whatever you undertake. With positive and creative thinking your opportunities can be grasped and materialized. Believe in the po- tential of yourself.
