Reflection 9. Transcend wrong opinions others have of you
One of my close friends, Ray, was very distressed. A family member he cherished said something quite awful about Ray’s behavior. Ray was distressed. I told him not to worry, but just ignore the comment, and don’t accept the invalid opinion. How could I do that? Ray questioned.
I knew that Ray did not eat pork, as he considered it unhealthy. I asked Ray, if he were given a beautiful pork ham whether he would accept it? Quite predictably Ray said no. I then asked him who would then own the ham? He replied, the original owner of course. Well I said, when someone comments wrongfully about you, merely do not accept it. The invalid comment will then remain with the person making the comment. Transcend the invalid comment, and do not make it your reality.
You must not make a wrong opinion another person has of you become your reality. You have the power to determine what you will let enter your consciousness. One clue is to understand that if you are obsessed with what others think about you—your reputation—you will be in great turmoil. You have to know who you are, what you stand for, do what is just and right, and then be indifferent to the wrong opinions others may have of you. Stand in the power of the knowledge you have of yourself. No one knows your qualities better than you. Stand in your light.
You must become conscious of your success markers (core values) so that you can stand up within yourself, and not buy into the wrong opinions others have of you. Http://www.nurturinglifebooks.com
