Beyond Communicating To Connecting
My life, like most other people, has been one of
communicating. In fact in 2005 I published a
book entitled, ”The Executive Speaks.” You
can therefore understand how I recently felt
on realizing that it is not sufficient to merely
communicate. I knew this, but did not understand
it fully, nor practiced it massively. You have
to
connect with people, and that connection
requires
you to generate energy to get on the same
platform
with the persons whose thinking and actions
you are trying to shift.
The international celebrity, John Maxwell,
sparked this awakening. One of his many
books, “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, ”
explains what is involved in connecting with
people. My challenge now is to focus on
connecting with people rather than just
communicating.
John Maxwell is influencing leaders
throughout the world, and my
congratulations go out to him, as the Planet
owes him a great debt of gratitude for his
continuing efforts to develop transformational
world leaders.
Connecting with people is important, as influence drives income.
