RINGING CHURCH BELLS & WHITE SMOKE
Last week while on the computer working on
a ticklish project for a client, the air was
suddenly filled with strong peals of Church
bells ringing melodiously. I wondered what
was happening, and switched on to the news
to learn that the new Roman Catholic Pope
had been selected, as white smoke was seen
coming from the Sistine Chapel in the
Vatican, Rome.
Apparently this news was communicated
throughout the world for the faithful by the
several Catholic churches in various
countries sounding their Church bells
triumphantly.
This reminded me that you have to take the
situation into account when you need to
communicate quickly and effectively. This
additional strategy of the Church was
certainly an interesting way to let people
know the outcome of the New Pope’s selection
while going about their normal business.

P.S. Remember the 4
key preliminary questions
to consider before
you communicate:
[1] Do I have anything to say?
[2] What is the message I want to give?
[3] What is the awareness of the audience?
[4] What is the timeline to deliver the message?
